What a great idea! I was about to spend a fortune on a hotel for my partner and I to go to Wellington for a wedding, but found a fantastic house swap opportunity on the site. Easy peasy. No problems...

Beautiful comfortable home with a relaxed vibe in very handy central location. Great communication. Cat and dog easy to care for. Reliable, took good care of our home. We enjoyed our stay and hope to swap again, thanks so much. - Clare Kernot - Tuesday, June 14, 2016

About us

Member ID: 7638

We are a family of 4 with a dog called Stanley and a cat called Poppy. Our children Alfie and Isabella (aged 13 and 11) are very sporty, anything to do with horses, football and the water. As a family we like to explore new places near and far.. We are originally from the UK and have lived in New Zealand for the past 3 years. Its a beautiful place we would love to explore more. We are open to visiting everywhere and anywhere..Travel is our passion, whether it be thrill seeking, relaxing over lunch, chilling on a beach or visiting galleries. We have just completed our first house swap and had a great time and received a lovely letter and gifts from our guests. thank you so much

Property description and facilities

Our home is a beautiful 1920's two story villa. Its is only 5min walk to town ( Len Lye Gallery ) yet on a very quiet street surrounded by trees. There are seas view from both levels and a large side deck where you can watch the sun set with an evening drink.
I have only listed 3 bedrooms (1 Superking,1 Queen,1 double) there is also a fourth room downstairs that is an office with large sofa that could function as kids bed if needed.
The main living areas are open plan with views out to trees and the sea. There is only one main bathroom upstairs but we have a downstairs loo and heated outdoor shower ( for the surfers and beach lovers)
New Plymouth is definitely an up and coming area with lots of cool bars, restaurants and funky independent shops..try Snug Lounge,Catering company,Social Kitchen,Et Vous,Tempt to name a few.
The house is on two levels and it also has a number of steps leading to the front door which may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties or small children.
The home has fibre optic internet for those who like to stay connected.

Location description and facilities

New Plymouth has so much to do yet remains a hidden gem.
Surfing, fishing (Huge Marlin for those serious fishermen/women out there) Diving, kite surfing to name a few...Visit Oakura beach for a fab family day out. Great beach, lifeguards in the summer and cool pop up food venues. It also has a yummy curry restaurant, pub which has brilliant bands over the summer time.
The newly finished Len lye Gallery in New Plymouth for the Arty folk. Kina Gallery full of locals artworks and international pieces for sale. There is plenty to do to keep the whole family busy and happy. Drive to Mount Taranaki and you can choose to take a leisurely walk or a full summit climb. So many walks I couldn't possibly list them..cycle/walk along the 10k coastal walkway taking in the rustic scenery and the odd coffee along the way (Paris Plage for pizza, juices or a vino or 3!)

And not forgetting WOMAD!! Its a must if you visit in March.

Don't underestimate Taranaki it is truly a hidden Gem.
