What a great idea! I was about to spend a fortune on a hotel for my partner and I to go to Wellington for a wedding, but found a fantastic house swap opportunity on the site. Easy peasy. No problems...

About us

Member ID: 22681

We are a Wellington family of four. Mum, Tracy, dad, Chris, Uni-going daughter Niamh who is 19 and stay-at-home, glued to the X-box son Liam who is 15. We love adventure, travel and spending time in different places. I'm Tracy and I originate from London having arrived here 23 years ago to take up a two year sponsored role with an ad agency in Wellington. Second year here I met Chris, a Dunedin lad and the rest, as they say, is history. We've spent a lot of money over the years booking baches and it really does eat into our budget and what we have left to enjoy activities. I've joined Kiwi House Swap to make our adventures more regular and more affordable, and to enjoy exchanges with like-minded people.

Property description and facilities

We have a beautiful single level holiday home on a full size section just two minutes walk to Waikanae Beach on the Kapiti coast. The area is called Olde Beach due to its many traditional kiwi baches and old school charm that is now protected from over-development by the Kapiti Coast Council. Our house is a hidden gem, nestled within a beautifully planted garden, complete with cherry trees, fejoas and lemon tree. It's not an old bach yet still has that bachy feel with a modern flair. There are 3 bedrooms, the master with queen bed is ensuite, the second has a queen bed and its own sliding door onto the deck, while the third has a set of bunks. You can enjoy two different outdoor areas: one a covered courtyard with Italian pizza oven, the other a back deck with table and chairs overlooking the lawn and stone patio steps across to the Canadian hot tub - only just installed!
Now for the beach! Miles of golden sand, a sea that's shallow for a long long way out (great for kids) and magnificent views of Kapiti island. Pop down with the boogie boards, there are plenty at the Bach. Or grab the bikes and explore the beautiful Kapiti coast cycle trail or river paths. Need some refreshments? We have 3 awesome Cafes walking distance away plus the Olde Beach Bakery that adds a kilo just by walking past. There's a local craft beer brewery near by too, so expect some decent thirst quenchers. I won't mention the word shopping, oh go on then! Coastlands shopping mall is 15 mins drive away or you'll find nice boutique stores down the road in Raumati. Waikanae Beach itself has a well stocked Four Square.
