Our home is situated on 20 acres of Australian subalpine forest adjacent to the Alpine National Park. The closest neighbours are kangaroos and the occasional wallaby, but we are in walking distance to the local bakery and 2 pubs!
It is mud brick with double glazed windows and fantastic views of the surrounding forest. There are two living areas, one upstairs and one downstairs. Upstairs has a separate bathroom and toilet. There are 3 bedroom and a living area with a sofa bed plus a large office space. Downstairs has the main bedroom (not for use), bathroom and separate toilet. The kitchen, dining, living, laundry and drying room are all downstairs. Entry to the house is via the downstairs area. Heating is with a built-in wood heater and a gas heater. The wood heater flue goes through the upstairs area to provide heating upstairs.
We have lots of herbs but veggies don't do too well as we are pretty cold in winter, (but not too hot in summer!)
Skiing is close by in winter and rivers and hiking are 15 minutes walking distance away. The tourist destination of Bright is 25 minutes’ drive away. This is the closest place to shop. The closest Wineries are 35 minutes away and the King Valley, Beechworth and Rutherglen regions are 1 to 2 hours’ drive away. You do need a car but a vehicle is available if needed.
You can fly to Melbourne and train/bus to Bright.
