    New Plymouth has much to offer. 5 minutes to good patrolled (in the summer) surf beaches and 20 minutes to Mount Taranaki. There are many walks, both in the city and further afield, including the 13km coastal walkway and Pukeiti Gardens. Over the summer, Pukekura Park comes alive with daily events and evening music as well as the spectacular festival of lights display. Two outstanding free facilities are Puke Ariki which provides an excellent museum experience and the Brookland's Zoo. Plenty of cafes and restaurants to enjoy.
