What a great idea! I was about to spend a fortune on a hotel for my partner and I to go to Wellington for a wedding, but found a fantastic house swap opportunity on the site. Easy peasy. No problems...

We are a young(is) family of four, we have a boy and a girl aged 3 and 5. Tommy is 36 and has his own Painting business on the Kapiti Coast and there's me, Georgia. I'm 34 and work as a designer in Wellington. We are originally from Scotland and moved to New Zealand a year ago and absolutely love it here! We love our home to bits in Raumati Beach, and believe we live in our own little slice of paradise. New Zealand is so beautiful and we are keen to explore the country and experience as many family adventures as we can, whilst sharing our home with other like minded people. We love cooking, coffee and being as active as possible on our bikes, running or swimming whenever the sun is shining.
Our home is a renovated bach, with plenty of character and charm. It is set back from the street with views across to the mountains and only 3-minute walk to the beach you can lie in bed and listen to the ocean.
The master bedroom has access to the deck that go's all the way around the house and you have a secluded and private outdoor bath where you can stare at the stars in a hot bath to your heart's content!
We have two single children rooms, the living room has a double sofa bed and there is also another double bedroom that is accessed off the front deck - perfect for teenagers or for additional family.
The bathroom has a walk-in shower/wet room and there is a second separate toilet. The dining kitchen is open plan and is the hub of the house. The deck extends all the way around the house, making full use of the daytime sun. We have an easy care courtyard and then we have a back section with fruit trees and grassy area, perfect for adventure play and discovery with the kids. There is a gate at the bottom of the garden giving access straight onto the college sports fields, perfect for some after dinner games.
We are in a truly fantastic location as we are walking distance to local cafes, bakeries, a gallery, restaurants, bar, the beach and more importantly if you have small kids like us we have the most amazing play park just about on our doorstep - the Marine Gardens. This has an amazing splash pad, play park and a miniature railway that runs on a Sunday afternoon.
Our favourite spot is the Raumati Social Club, live music, great food and awesome atmosphere, that's only a 10-minute walk away in Raumati South.
Kapiti Island is not to be missed, an internationally recognised nature reserve and bird sanctuary. Take a day trip to the Island from Paraparaumu, 5 minutes drive away.
We have Kapiti Airport approximately 10 minutes away which receives flights from Blenheim, Nelson, Christchurch and Auckland.
There is something for everyone here in Raumati Beach, walk to the cafes, skip to the beach, or just stroll to the fabulous marine gardens with their miniature railway down the road. Pony trekking, fishing, mountain biking, trips to Kapiti Island and helicopter flights over the Tararua Range you name it you can do it.
If that's not enough you can jump on the train and be in Wellington in 50mins for some great shopping, a visit to Te Papa and enjoy a cocktail on the waterfront!
