What a great idea! I was about to spend a fortune on a hotel for my partner and I to go to Wellington for a wedding, but found a fantastic house swap opportunity on the site. Easy peasy. No problems...

We are a professional married couple with two delightful children aged 3 and 6 years. My husband runs his own building inspections company in Northland and I work on this business as well as running my own naturopathy business from home. We enjoy everything that Northland has to offer including fishing, kayaking bush walking and the many scenic beaches and forests around our home. We are excited to explore more of this amazing country and believe that house swap is a brilliant opportunity to do this as well as share our little piece of paradise with others.
Some locations we are interested in visiting
We live in one of the most beautiful beach locations on the Coromandel Peninsula. Our place is located right on the Pepe Stream - a tidal stream perfect for an afternoon dip, a slide on the permanent waterslide or a morning kayak.
We are in walking distance to the town (a nice stroll around the estuary) for a selection of cafes and restaurants as well as lovely gift stores and a gallery. The town crystal shop is not to be missed and the organic store sells delightful real fruit ice-creams.
Our home is a 2 storey, 4 bedroom house with an extra lounge downstairs and a 'games room' in the garage complete with pool table, air hockey and Foosball.
You'll be very comfortable here as it is our main residance so fully equipt with all the modern conveniences and WiFi.
If you tire of Tairua's main surf beach, It is a short 10 minute drive to Sailors Grave which is a very family friendly beach and there are wonderful bush walks and water holes all around the town in both directions. Hot Water Beach is a 30 min drive as is Cathedral Cove and Hahei.
We have 2 children ourselves so are happy for families to stay here.
Tairua itself has a stunning surf beach with safe swimming and a patrolled beach over the summer months. Mt Paku is the mountain at the north end of the beach and the climb to the summit takes only 30 minutes and is worth every moment. The town is surrounded by forest so there are plenty of bush walking opportunities and other beaches to visit in a 30 minute radius (by car). Sailors Grave, Pauanui (5 min ferry ride), Whangamata and Whitianga are all in very close proximity and all offer the best beaches in the country, great food, entertainment and many hiking and mountain biking tracks.
If you prefer a slower pace then there are many lovely cafes and restaurants to choose from. Some nice shops to peruse in Tairua and many more in Whangamata, not far away. There is a brewery with cafe a 15 minute drive north. And the closest cinema would be Whitianga, a 35 minute drive north.
